2021

The 2021 Stirling Gang Show will take place during the week beginning Sunday 14 March 2021. This will be our Silver Jubilee production.   25 Gang Shows since our first in1986.

Monday 28 October 2019

DVDs & Thank You

The DVDs will be distributed over the next few days, some by hand and some by post.  If you ordered more than one then they will come in separate envelopes.  Please let Scott know if yours hasn't arrived by Wed 6th Nov.

With the Disco over (and enjoyed by all, we hope) the 2019 Stirling Gang Show is now completely over.  Thank you to all who took part or helped behind the scenes.

It is some time before we will have dates for the 2021 Stirling Gang Show.  Despite asking in late August for a date, as in previous years, the MacRobert apparently cannot give us a date until December.  We hope that the Show will be in March 2021 but watch this blog for news.

We hope to make the 2021 production even bigger and better as we will be celebrating our Silver Jubilee Gang Show.  25 Shows since our first one in 1986.

Don't forget to let Scott know your new address if you move home before autumn 2020.  Invitations to join the 2021 Stirling Gang Show will be sent to the address that we hold for you.

Sunday 15 September 2019

Week Commencing 16 September

Please note everything below as there have been some changes since this was first posted on Sunday evening

Good rehearsal yesterday but some members need to learn their words.  It also didn't help the rehearsal when some members disappeared early!   Look at the videos to remind yourselves of the moves for each number.

Pink and orange sheets were available for collection yesterday.  These contain important information about costumes and about getting to and from the theatre.  Please ensure you have your copies and follow the instructions.

Have you got your woggle and necker ?   They will not be available after 28 September!

Tues 17 Sept

Songs Come Alive and Rewrite the Stars are dropped from this item.

4.30 - 6pm   Revise ALL other production numbers

Don't forget the guidance you were given on Sunday about how to prepare and hang your costumes.

Please Note   1.  Dancing Again has been shortened to an hour on Sunday as it was virtually finished yesterday.  Anyone who was absent on 8th Sept. will find it hard work, although not impossible, to catch up.  If you have missed 2 rehearsals it will not be possible to catch up.

Please Note  2.  The Opening will be revised for an hour on Sunday to freshen it up.  Please try to attend if you are in this number.

We are not far off finishing rehearsals so it is very important that you attend all your remaining rehearsals.

With only 6 weeks of rehearsals left, it is important that you are present for all your rehearsals.

IMPORTANT
1. Going GaGa has some very complicated dance moves which the cast coped well with on Tuesday night.  However it is important that everyone who wants to be in this number attends Sunday's rehearsal as well as the Final Setting on Thursday 29th. If you missed Tuesday and will miss this Sunday you will not be able to pick up the dancing on Thursday.

2. The initial dance moves were videoed and we hope to have them on the website by Wednesday night - Thursday at the latest.

3. Skool Rules! will have to be re-rehearsed as it did not go well when it was run last Sunday.  A new rehearsal date has been arranged which has meant a few other changes to accommodate it.  A new rehearsal schedule will be emailed to everyone on Wednesday and a paper copy (Yellow) will be available on Sunday

Advance Notice
Please note that on Sunday 1 Sept. the bridge over the river at the foot of Union Street will be closed for those travelling towards Stirling.  This affects Bridge of Allan, Cornton & Causewayhead.  The diversion is via the eastern bypass to Kerse Road or via the motorway for those coming from Dunblane.

Saturday 20 July 2019

FINAL COSTUME SESSIONS

These are being held in Queen Street Scout Hall on Wednesday July 31st and Tuesday August 6th, from 5p.m to 7.30p.m.  You should have received an email if you have not yet attended a costume fitting session.  You must respond to it to advise which of these sessions you will attend.  This helps the Wardrobe Manager to have things ready for you.

If you have not yet attended a session (the first one was on 15 June) you must go to one of these.   Please contact Rosemary as soon as possible if you are unavailable on these dates but remember - time is running out and Rosemary has many other tasks to carry out.

Thursday 18 July 2019

COSTUME FITTINGS

If you have not yet managed to one of the arranged costume fittings can you please contact Rosemary as soon as possible.

I'm sure you will appreciate just how much work goes into the preparation of the hundreds of costume that are needed.  All the work is done by volunteers and your input is also needed.  There are always some costumes to be finished off in the last few weeks so there is very little time to deal with individuals who have not managed to the arranged fittings.

Wednesday 10 July 2019

A revised schedule of rehearsals has been emailed to everyone.  It takes effect from Sunday 12 May. Changes are noted in a different font : New Times Roman Italic.  Blue paper copies are available at rehearsals.

Tickets will be on sale on Sunday at 1.45pm at the church hall and every subsequent Sunday at the same time.  They are also on sale at the MacRobert from Monday 6 May.

Monday 15 April 2019

Next Rehearsal - Saturday 27 April

There is no rehearsal on Easter Sunday

Because the Marathon has made much of the Stirling area inaccessible on Sunday 28 April the rehearsal has had to be moved to Saturday 27 April and the venue changed to Queen Street Scout Hall.

Please note there is also a change to the items being rehearsed.   Because we made such good progress with Pieces on Sun 14th we will not need so much time on Sun 27th for its rehearsal.  This item should therefore finish around 3.45pm.

This gives us a chance to run Making a Living a few times to fix it in everyone's memories.  Would the cast for Making a Living therefore please come at 3.45pm for this additional session.  If it goes well we should finish around 5pm although it is difficult to be exact until we see how well it has been remembered.

Monday 25 March 2019

Sunday 14 April

A very good rehearsal yesterday as we finished the Final setting of Making a Living.  We'll be in touch soon with instructions on how to access the video once we have put it online. Our thanks to Rachel for her excellent work.

Our next rehearsal is on Sunday 14 April in Viewfield Church Hall as follows :
2 - 3.30pm  Pieces (Singing)
3.30 - 6pm Pieces (Setting)
6 - 6.30pm Historical Band (Singing)

The last item is a change to the schedule from 28 April caused by the Stirling Marathon and will be held at the Church Hall.

Please note that, as we move into the camping season, we hope that members will do their best to get away from camps around lunchtime on Sundays in order to make it to rehearsal.  We don't mind our members smelling of wood smoke!

Monday 18 March 2019

Sunday 24 March

Rehearsals for Sunday are as follows
2 - 3pm   Learning the songs for Pieces
3 - 6pm  Final setting of Making a Living.  You must attend to be in this number

If you are only in one of these numbers you only need to come for that rehearsal

There is always some work for the Show going on in the background.  The scenery store at Thornhill is being spring cleaned ready to start making the first items needed for this year's Show.  Similarly, costume planning is now underway with a lot to be made or altered between now and the costume day in June.

Monday 11 March 2019

Sun 17 March

Good turnout for the casting rehearsal.  Sheets will be sent by email later this week showing the parts each person is in.  If you are not available for a particular part or number please let Scott know as soon as possible.  Printed sheets will be available on Sunday but please only take the one that contains your name.

This Sunday's rehearsal sees us setting Making a Living all afternoon.  We will finish at the normal time of 6pm

Monday 4 March 2019

Sunday 10 March

This week the rehearsal is in Queen Street Scout Hall

The whole cast should be present from 2pm - 3.30pm for Making a Living (Singing)

Casting for speaking parts and for singing parts last from 3.30pm - 6pm.  Individuals may finish earlier.  Depending on numbers, some people may have to wait a while for their turn so you may wish to bring a book.   Can we remind you that Membership Forms and Fees must have been handed in before Casting for individuals to be considered for a part.

Everyone will be emailed a copy of the casting sheet sometime after 10 March.  This will show you which numbers you are in and which specific part you have gained if you have ben chosen.  We will answer any queries on Sunday 17th when we will also have hard copies of the sheets.

Those of the older members of the cast who have chosen to do a reduced number of items must email Scott before Sunday with details.

Thursday 21 February 2019

Sunday 3 March

The first rehearsal is on Sunday 3 March in Viewfield Church Hall, Irvine Place, Stirling.  You should arrive at 1.45pm sharp as it will take some time to enrol everyone.  We want to get started as near as possible to 2pm as there is a lot to do.   Don't forget to bring your Membership Form and Membership Fee.

We will start by welcoming everyone and then we'll look at the programme and explain the casting arrangements for the following Sunday.  We will then start to learn the music for "Making a Living".  This item will have 4 songs - Manic Monday; 9 to 5; If I Had Money to Burn; Money Makes the World Go Round.

Following the music we will have a Meeting with parents and cast members from 4.30 - 6pm.  This is to help everyone understand the commitment, to see what help we need and to answer any questions.

There will be a Tuck Shop for the cast during the afternoon.

Friday 18 January 2019

Welcome to Stirling Gang Show 2019

Letters have now been sent to all the 2018 Gang inviting them to return for the 2019 Stirling Gang Show.  Whilst school work must always come first we hope that as many as possible will return for the Show.  The programme has been chosen and looks exciting.  Songs old and new are in the mix.   Production numbers will include songs from The Greatest Showman and ABBA and smaller numbers will revisit the effect Midges have on us all and a bit of cod history.   Sketches include one about The Musketeers.

Experience Days have been introduced to replace auditions and we hope that existing Gang members will encourage as many of their friends as possible to come along to Queen Street Scout Hall on Sundays 17 and 24 February (2pm - 3.30pm).  Everyone who comes along will be invited to join if they wish.
