Merry Christmas

We wish all our members and their families a Merry Christmas and a Happy 2019.

Looking forward to seeing you at the first rehearsal for the 2019 Show on 3rd March or, perhaps, at the Experience Days on 17 and 24 February.   Information and invitations will be sent to all 2018 members in mid-January

Thursday 19 July 2018

2019 Gang Show

In 2019 we will not be holding Auditions, instead we are inviting Scouts and Guides to come along to one of the Gang Show Experience Days on Sundays 17 & 24 February.  They will be held in Queen Street Scout Hall from 2pm - 3.30pm.

This will give Scouts and Guides the opportunity of finding out a little about Gang Show and they will experience a little of how we put a Show together.  Attending one of these sessions does not commit you to joining but you will have the opportunity to enrol if you wish.  All those who attend a session and wish to join will be accepted into the Stirling Gang.

Existing Gang members are also welcome to attend a session if they want.

Tuesday 3 April 2018

2019 Stirling Gang Show

The next Stirling Gang Show will take place during the week commencing 29 September 2019.  Auditions are expected to be in February with rehearsals starting in March.  Please watch this space for more news nearer the time.

Saturday 17 March 2018

Cast Disco

The Disco is being held on Saturday 24 March in Queen Street Scout Hall.  It starts at 7pm and finishes at 10.30pm although we advise that Brownies and Cubs finish at 9.30pm.

Memory sticks with all the photos in jpeg format will be on sale for £4 and DVDs of the Show can be ordered for £6.  Please be sure to have the correct money as we won't have change.

Monday 5 March 2018

Week commencing 5 March

Theatre arrival time on Monday is between 5.30pm and 5.45pm with and is expected to finish at 9.30pm

For the rest of the week arrive between 6.30pm and 6.45pm

The Junior Gang will finish around 8.30pm each night except Saturday when it will be 10pm.  The Main Gang will finish at 10pm Tuesday to Saturday.

Don't forget when you arrive at the theatre do not queue at the stage door as it blocks the restaurant access.  The Gang Show queuing point will be clearly marked in the foyer.

Saturday 3 March 2018

Update 2100 hours 03/03/18

The roads at the Uni have been cleared and there is access to the car parks.

When coming to drop off your costumes on Sunday between 4pm and 5pm you may be able to access the MacRobert foyer via the front door.  If it is closed then please enter the Uni via the door to the left of the MacRobert main door and ascend the stairs to the Atrium.  You will be met there and guided to the dressing rooms.  This applies to males and females.

Please note that most of the Production Team will be at the MacRobert all Sunday and Monday and cannot be easily contacted by email.

Update 1030 3/03/18

A bit more snow overnight but fortunately not much.  This afternoon's rehearsal will proceed as planned with cast members getting lifts as requested.  I would suggest that you walk if you stay anywhere near Beechwood (I shall be walking) although I'm aware that most of the cast live too far away to attempt this.   We'll have to rehearse without Props as we can't carry them but the fake radio mikes will be in use.

The MacRobert's backstage area will be open tomorrow.  We will check the access roads and car parks later today and keep you informed.  The costume drop off on Sunday should be OK but the route to the dressing rooms may be changed so please watch this blog.

The good news is that Robin and Phil made it to Thornhill this morning so we have backcloths.  They believe the lorry will be able to get there tomorrow so we'll have all our scenery.

We have contingency plans in place for most eventualities but your safety comes first.

Friday 2 March 2018

Weather Update 1330 hours 2/03/18

With crossed fingers I can say that today is a lot better and we are planning to go ahead with Saturday's rehearsal starting at the earlier time of 1pm for the main Gang (although Junior Gang can also come then if it's more convenient) and finishing at 6pm.  Beechwood will be open from noon if you have to come earlier.  The Junior Gang finishes at 3.30pm.

An email is being sent out to everyone by 2pm today detailing transport arrangements and also appealing for help with transport.

Thursday 1 March 2018

Weather Update 1450 hours 1/03/18

The weather is so bad that there is little hope of significant improvement by this evening so tonight's rehearsal (Thursday) is cancelled.

Saturday's rehearsal will start at 1pm to try to retrieve some of the lost time.  The Junior Gang will still be needed from 2pm - 3.30pm but if a parent wishes to drop off a Brownie or Cub at 1pm because they are also bringing a main Gang member then this will be OK.

When arriving at Beechwood by car, the side road may be too snowy to approach the hall.   We suggest you approach from the St Ninians direction so that children do not have to cross the main road.  You can park on the main road and walk over to the hall which is on the right hand side of the houses and to the rear

Please continue to check this blog for any further updates regarding Saturday.

Monday 26 February 2018

Week Commencing Mon 26 February

The whole cast is needed for all of this weeks rehearsals which will be run throughs of the Show.

Tuesday and Thursday are from 7pm - 9pm in the Guide Hut.  Saturday is from 2pm - 6pm in Beechwood Scout Centre.  The Junior Gang should come on Saturday from 2pm - 3.30pm.  A map for finding Beechwood has been emailed to all members.

Instructions have already been given out for bringing costumes to the theatre on Sunday and for next week's rehearsals and performances in the theatre.

It is extremely important that you arrive at the theatre at the times advised and that you are present for the full week from Monday to Saturday.

Should we experience bad weather please try to follow the guidelines which were also emailed to you last week.

Please Note
       1.  Changes to some songs will be given out at the start so bring your script
and have a pencil handy.  The cuts are necessary because the Show is a
            bit too long.
       2.  3 leaflets will be handed out later on Sunday afternoon.  These detail all
the arrangements for getting into the theatre and a lot of other associated
            information.

Theatre Planning
Now is the time to think carefully about your participation in the Show so that you can have as much fun as possible.
Do you have to wear a radio mike in any number ?   Remember this will reduce your time for changing costumes so plan accordingly.
Do you need to carry a Prop on stage or bring one off stage ?   Don't forget !

Costumes
You will need a clothes hanger for each set of costumes.   The hangers should be wooden or strong plastic - no wire hangers.  Smaller items for a number (such as shoes, belts, etc.) should be placed in a plastic carrier and the handles looped over the hanger's hook.  On Sunday 25 February we will show you how to label you hangers for ease of finding.   Remember there are many hundreds of costume changes taking place each evening and it is important that none are mislaid.

Wednesday 7 February 2018

Missing Cast

On Tuesday two persons missed important rehearsals.   Each of the following now have only ONE rehearsal left :

Pirates

Stop Digging.

We cannot complete these rehearsals without 100% turnout.   Please look at your schedule and ensure you are present for any and all numbers you are in.

If the number cannot be completed satisfactorily because of absences then either the number will be dropped from the Show or the missing individual will be replaced in that number.
